Most doctors are employed in the public sector with generally low salaries. They generally earn monthly salaries that leave them with little or no disposable income once basic expenses for daily living are met. This leaves many doctors vulnerable to various industrial shocks such as changes in policies on remunerations and demands on work input.

In order to mitigate these uncertainties and demands, doctors find themselves working long and odd hours, often doing part time work in addition, with income not reflective of the work input.

This observation prompted the idea of setting up a cooperative to use available resources to enable doctors make extra income while resting
